Infection Control Programme
Introduction:
Every year at least 300,000 NHS patients develop healthcare associated infections. Reducing HCAI and improving cleanliness across all healthcare settings is the responsibility of everyone. With good practice and careful hygiene it has been estimated that around 15-30% of HCAI could be avoided.
The National Infection Control e-learning programme was created to provide learning for staff of all disciplines that is freely available, transferable and accredited. By increasing awareness of Infection Control, it is anticipated that there will be improvements in efficiency and clinical outcomes, increased safety and reliability and overall better patient experiences.
The programme was recently awarded the silver award for ‘e-Learning Project of the Year’ at the IT training Awards 2007.
Target Audience:
All health sector staff. CNO recommends that every member of staff completes the core e-learning component regardless of what other infection control training they have undertaken
