Introduction to National Statutory and Mandatory Training Programmes
Delivering the Core Learning Unit’s Statutory and Mandatory curriculum will provide organisations with the following benefits:
- A Standardised framework against which to deliver and assess mandatory skills
- A flexible means of getting staff to undertake mandatory training
- A cost effective delivery method with the possibility of reduced face to face delivery time; and minimised retraining as staff move from organisation to organisation
The assurance of an accredited curriculum, mapped against key national standards, which will build towards the KSF, Health Care Commission, CNST requirements, therefore, reducing organisational insurance burdens.
NHS Employers recently joined the Health & Safety Executive, National Patient Safety Agency and City & Guilds in endorsing the three Statutory and Mandatory e-learning packages produced by the Core Learning Unit
The modules are:
- Fire Safety Awareness
- Health and Safety Awareness
- Manual Handling
Target Audience: The Statutory and Mandatory curriculum is aimed initially at all new starters in Health and Care, possibly as part of their induction. It can also be used for annual updates and refresher training.
Benefits for learners:
Learners will:
- Develop skills and knowledge that can be transferred across the Health and Care Sector
- Require minimised retraining as they move between organisations
- Be able to engage with the subject areas at their own convenience
Generate a certificate of completion which will provide evidence of underpinning knowledge and practical competence which can be added to an NVQ portfolio
LATEST NEWS: Please note that as of the 31st July 2009, re-developed versions of the Fire Safety, Manual Handling and Health and Safety programmes will be available on www.corelearningunit.nhs.uk. We recommend, if this is the first time you have accessed these programmes, that you use the new re-developed versions.
The original versions will still be accessible for learners who are already in progress with these programmes but please be aware that you will need to complete them by the 31st January 2010, when the original versions will be turned off.
